Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association names new director Adam Mills has been named president and CEO of the Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association, the organization announced Friday.
Mills has been a member of the KRHA staff, as vice president for member services, since 2003. His new position takes effect immediately. He has held the position in an interim capacity since September.

The 2012 program kicks off Friday.
Advance Kansas includes four full-day workshops during a four-month period. Workshops will include classroom discussions, lectures and a community project.

Wichita environmental awards announced The city of Wichita on Friday announced the winners of the 2012 Clean Air and Sustainability Awards.
The nine winners ? chosen from throughout Butler, Harvey, Sedgwick and Sumner counties ? included the Koch Industries Conservation Program and Wichita Mid-Continent Airport?s ?Green Team.?

Union membership grew in Kansas in 2011 The percentage of Kansas workers who were members of or represented by unions grew in 2011, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The report shows that about 97,000 Kansas were members of unions in 2011, up from 84,000 in 2010. Union membership grew from 6.8 percent of employed Kansans to 7.6 percent.
About 128,000 Kansas workers, or 10.1 percent, were represented by unions, though not all were members. That?s a growth from 111,000 workers, or 9.1 percent in 2010.
Despite unions? growth in the state in 2011, Kansas remains below the national average for union membership...
